Fake it Til You Make It

This is my all time favourite saying and I am a huge advocate in believing that attitude is everything. My take on this saying is that if you start to think like a success you will be a success … if you start to act like an expert others will soon see you as an expert.

Please don’t see this as a saying that means you should pretend you know what you are doing because that is just a recipe for disaster.

Simply put this saying means that you can’t be something until you start acting, thinking, talking and breathing like that something.

In my business when I started to act the way I thought a successful VA would act, talk the way a successful VA would talk and think the way I thought a successful VA would talk my business took off and soon others saw me as one of those successful VAs.

So next time before you go to tell someone about your business or about your product, view yourself as having the most successful business and/or product … you will be amazed by the results!!

You know I do agree that attitude is everything but you cant attitude yourself into being something you’re not. If you have no idea how to make money or bake cakes then you should out right just say it. ” I dont have those answers but here are some great resources you should go read to help you get those answers”. Too many fakers and not enough makers around these days. I like the saying its the blind leading the blind. Seriously yvonne how many people are there out giving advice on any number of topics who have no idea what theyre doing. Its gotten so bad that theres doctors who arent qualified to do plastic surgery yet are doing it. Theres a fine line here between thinking yourself successful and putting somoene at risk either financially or any other number of ways. Far too may people selling sh!t as shinola

Shane,

I can’t agree more and I am sorry that I didn’t clarify the fact that you should stick with what you know and become as successful as you can at that, but until you do, if you start acting as if you are successful then you will be successful.

That said, someone that goes outside of their skillset and tries to be a success at what they are not qualified to do will surely never be a success because no matter how much you fake it, people will see through your lack of knowledge and will never ever see you as a success.

Thanks again for reminding me to always clarify my thoughts.
