Staying Positive in a Crazy World

There has been a lot of talk of late about the “Law of Attraction” and whether you believe you can attract positive things in your life just by focusing on them. There is an underlying lesson missed by many who are following these principles; that lesson is the power of positive thinking.

Positive thinking will allow you to take any situation and find the “good in it”. If we spend all our time thinking of the bad things that happen, we tend to focus our energies on those things and can find ourselves falling into a “funk”. Instead, begin to focus on the positives. Here are some ideas to get you thinking:

Make a grateful list.
A grateful list is a wonderful tool to really make you stop and think about just what it is you are grateful for. It is a chance to really focus on all the positive things in your life. We take lots of things in our lives for granted and tend to focus on trying to fix what is wrong in our lives and other’s lives. If you are having problems making a grateful list, just look at some of the people around you. Perhaps your neighbor’s child is sick and you realize, “Thank goodness my children are healthy and can play outside”. This is the start of your grateful list.

The Grass is NOT Always Greener.
It is a human response to want to keep up with the Joneses, we all naturally wish we had what other’s around us have, but stop a minute and think about this statement. There is probably someone out there who wishes they were on your side of the fence too. It all goes back to our grateful list and appreciating what we do have.

Take Some Time Out To Recharge Your Batteries.
Naturally when we are tired, overworked or stressed we begin to look at things with a clouded judgment. Little things that wouldn’t normally bother us become a huge matter. Taking some time away from the situation allows us to realize the simplicity of the situation and move away from the not so positive thoughts we are having.

Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining.
This cliché is so true in such a great part of our lives. By taking a bad situation and truly focusing on what that situation has taught us, we can learn so many lessons. Absolutely everything we do has a lesson attached to it and by stopping to learn exactly what we are supposed to learn, we can be sure to never repeat a mistake or put ourselves in a terrible situation again.

Smiling is Contagious.
Even if you really don’t feel like putting a smile on your face, do it. Just by forcing yourself to smile you will find you begin to feel happier and more positive. Try smiling at someone else. Iit will be next to impossible for that person not to smile back. And remember – even when you’re on the phone, people can tell when you’re smiling.

Do A Good Deed.
You will be surprised by just how good you will feel by doing something nice for someone else. It doesn’t have to be a big thing or even something that costs a lot of money. Perhaps letting the person behind you in the grocery line with only milk and eggs go ahead of you. Maybe just phoning a friend you know if having a difficult time and sharing a laugh.

Visualize Your Dreams.
Perhaps the best thing you can do to remain positive is to know just where you want to go and to take some time to put yourself there. Visualizing your dreams gives you and your body a feeling of being recharged and re-energized to face any obstacle thrown in your way.

I know it is often easier said than done and some days will be harder than others. If you took the time to write it down every time you did or said something positive and every time you did or said something negative, I think you would notice just how much easier it is to be negative and be shocked at just how negative you are! Take time to work at it and make positive thinking a part of your everyday life. You and your body will thank you for it and in turn that positive thinking will reflect in all areas of your life. Before you know it you will have a happier, healthier family and a stronger, thriving business.
